  It's important to understand both the basic CSU transfer requirements AND the requirements for the specific campus and major you wish to apply to. You can begin researching this early, but remember to check back as requirements can (and do) change.

  When do I apply to transfer?

  The application filing period depends on which term you are applying to transfer. Please see the table below:

  Term	Priority Application Filing Period
  Winter	June 1 - June 30
  Spring	August 1 - August 31
  Fall	October 1- November 30

  Important things to consider before applying:

  • Not all campuses offer Spring admission
  • Not all campuses accept applications for all programs each term
  • Review application dates and deadlines information on calstate.edu/apply prior to beginning your application
  • Programs may have supplemental application materials and/or requirements. Check the campus website for more details on programs specific requirements for admission
  • Please check each campus for Spring Timeline for unit/ general education. major prep completion as it varies by campus

  After creating a Cal State Apply account you will complete the questions on the Extended
  Profile. Be sure to answer questions on the Extended Profile correctly. The
  answers you provide on the Extended Profile determine what question
  blocks (tiles) appear for the remainder of the application and what programs
  (majors) are available for you to choose.

• How to Add a Program? (Pre-recorded video)

  After you complete your Extended Profile, you will be taken to the Add Program page where you can select the specific program(s) you will apply to. Before moving on, review your program selections. This page shows you all programs you are applying to, the status of the application, and total fees due at submission. You will review this information again later on the Submit Application tab to ensure you are
  ready to submit.

  The CSU uses self-reported coursework to calculate an overall GPA and to determine admission eligibility.
  Failure to report all coursework completed may adversely affect admission eligibility and could result in a
  denial decision.

After you apply

• What do I need to do after I apply?

  Below you will find general tips, please refer to the / Transfer Center Next Steps Handout and/ or  Cal State  Guide for more information. 

  • You will need to check your email frequently, and make sure you stay on top of any to-do items. Campuses will have you create campus portals. Many campuses require submission of a supplemental application, transcripts or other updates. Most will ask you to create an account within their campus portal, like My¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ. All communication and application updates will be through this portal. Follow each campus/ instruction and adhere to deadlines. 
  • After you submit your application, you will receive and acknowledgement email from each campus, which will include instructions to create your individual portal account with each CSU campus. 
  • If you have applied to CSU as an ADT (AA-T or AS-T) applicant or Fall term, please submit ADT graduation petition to ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ Graduation office in December/January. 
  • If you have applied to CSU as an ADT (AA-T or AS-T) applicant for Spring term, please submit ADT graduation petition to ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ Graduation office for summer term or no later than the month of September. 
  • Complete Transfer Academic Update before the end of January for all CSU campuses for Fall transfer applicants.  You will need to log back into CalStateApply and submit fall grades and spring coursework. 
  • Both Fall and Spring transfer applicants should check individual CSU campuses applied to regarding supplemental application requirements and deadlines as each campus varies.  

  Fall transfers:

  • Complete a supplemental application if required for your CSU campus and/or major.
  • After you submit your application, you will receive and acknowledgement email from each campus, which will include instructions to create your individual portal account with each CSU campus.
  • After fall grades are posted, log back into your CSU application and complete the Transfer Academic Update by self reporting your fall grades before the January 31st deadline.
  • WHEN REQUESTED send official transcripts from all colleges attended and AP/IB scores to the CSU's.
  • Submit a graduation petition at the Graduation Center (Links to an external site.) before the spring deadline if you will be earning an Associate's degree.
  • Declare your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to the CSU you will be attending in fall before the campus deadline.
  • Send final official transcripts with spring grades and degree posted before campus deadline.

  Spring transfers:

  • Complete a supplemental application if required for your CSU campus and/or major.
  • After you submit your application, you will receive and acknowledgement email from each campus, which will include instructions to create your individual portal account with each CSU campus.
  • WHEN REQUESTED send official transcripts from all colleges attended and AP/IB scores to the CSU's.
  • If completing requirements for your Associate's in fall, then submit a graduation petition at the Graduation Center (Links to an external site.) before the fall deadline.
  • Declare your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to the CSU you will be attending in spring before the campus deadline.
  • Send final official transcripts with spring grades and degree posted before campus deadline.
• Update Transfer Academic Record

  Once you have submitted your CSU application for a Fall term, you will be required to log back into CSU application and enter grades for all fall courses and update spring coursework.

• ADT Applicants: What is E-verify?
  • What is E-verify? Electronic Verification, or E-Verify is a process where ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ provides information to the CSU system confirming the you are on track to receive ADT. This list is generated based on information you provide on your CalStateApply application. ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ can only E-verify students who are on the list we receive from the CSU Chancellor’s Office AND who have filed a graduation petition for Associate Degree for Transfer during the appropriate filing period with ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ Graduation office.

  • Remember, if you have applied to CSU’s with ADT, then make sure you submit your ADT petition to ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ Graduation office.
